Honestly @Bunniekins I have not had the luxury of walking much with people. Mostly had to toughen up and walk everywhere to school and work and university. Alone. At night. Walked to Lygon street to and from 3-5 nights per week for a year before I left. Working. While at school. I had to bite the bullet of my fear. In the end I felt safer on the dark side where the park was cos humans were pretty noisy and pushy in their cars. I was getting physically beaten up by the nasty girls and teased and excluded by the so called nice girls.
Later I used to hate it when middle class people catastrophised walking alone or catching public transport at night. I didn’t bite back on them but was polite but usually I knew they were too spoiled to ever be a safe person or friend for me. I quietly walked away. I want to scream at the world. GROW UP. Try walking in my shoes. Yes I mostly provided my own shoes from 13 years of age. I work hard to be light hearted but I guess I am just a horrible old lady now.

The few times I walked in the bush or at the beach with my family or friends, I still treasure.
